So, what is market research?

Market research is essentially companies or individuals gathering information from consumers in order to develop or improve a business idea/product/experience. We are the consumers as we are the people who buy/use their products and can provide them with feedback and opinions that will improve their business overall (which is why they pay us to do it!)

Market research can take place in all different shapes and forms such as product tests, face to face groups, online zoom calls, online communities, website tests.

How do I take part in market research?

There are so many market research sites and companies out there advertising research opportunities that you can apply for (you can find a list of some of the ones I use below!)

All research studies will be advertised with the type of people they are looking for to help them with the research. This can include your age, location, interests, hobbies, nationality.

Depending on if you fit the criteria they are looking for, you will be called back further to your application to get you booked onto the research!

How do they pay me?

Before you apply for any research study, the research advert should state how long the study will take and how much you will be paid for it. It will also tell you if this payment will be via bank transfer, paypal or voucher – in some instances, you will be given the choice of all 3, and you can choose your preferred method.
